The Misfits, Miller, Marylin, Monty and... Clark Gable

"This book tells the story of the making of the legendary film The Misfits (1961), directed by John Huston and starring Marylin Monroe, Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift.
As part of the promotional strategy for the film, the world-famous magnum photographic agency was given exclusive access to the production. Nine of its best-known photographers covered events both on and off the set."

"The Misfits has nothing to do with the classic Western or with tradicional genre movies. It tells the story of people who are completely 'unbalanced' (...) three men and two women who form an isolated little community in the vastness of Nevada. What they have in common is a sickness, a psychological wound, a 'split' that prevents them living, and it is precisely this profound disablement that makes them so touching. They have difficulty in living in a world they cannot grasp, that no longer matches their dreams. In its own way, The Misfits is the story of an impossible dream, set in an America where the great myths have died."
